I really like this one.  I think it can mean a lot of different things depending on who’s looking at it, which is part of the reason I made the person purposefully androgynous.  That’s something I’ve been doing a lot recently anyway because I want my art to be welcoming and inclusive for non-binary and non-gender conforming friends.  Also because the feminist in me thinks that smashing stereotypes is the best kind of fun.  I got a little crazy with the colors this time.  Tell me if you like it. [You can delete this paragraph if you want when you reblog, but please keep the title and my name.  Thx.]

Reblog City! (This is my current fav of my recent work, but it isn’t very popular. Isn’t that always the way?)

Coming of Spring
I’m practicing illustrating by choosing an editorial concept and coming up with ideas as thumbnails, then I choose one and finish it. I’m still working on my execution and my process, so I’m not quite as fast as I’d like to be (nor as dependable), but I’m learning a lot. This piece took me 4 days from thumb to finish.

Reblogathon!

Oh man, I just really don’t understand how I wasn’t using ink before.  I’m having so much more fun, I like the results more, and it takes me a fraction of the time that my older methods did.  This whole process from sketch to colored, finished piece only took a few hours.  Of course, that can probably partly be chalked up to a clearer idea of what I want to do to begin with.  I’ve narrowed my vision to editorial illustration, so I’m trying to think more conceptually.
*Edit* - There were a few parts that were bugging me, so I worked on it   and switched in the new version.

I’ve gotten SO many new followers recently, and I know a lot of you haven’t seen my older stuff, SO…I’m going to be reblogging a few of my favorites today.  Hope you like them!  But feel free to blacklist #Autumn reblogs if you don’t like the idea of ghost art haunting your dash.

It’s happened again!  Thanks, Tumblr Radar!  Hi, new followers!  I haven’t been posting as often lately due to some personal stuff, but stick around and hopefully I’ll have some new art to post soon.  I’m happy you’re here.

I’ve had a low grade fever for over a week, but I finally fought off my crappy illness-induced doldrums and finished the cheetah!

This morning I had 174 followers, and by this evening more than 400 of you have joined the party!  I figure this is a good time to introduce myself and tell you a bit about myself!

It has come to my attention that cheetahs are really hyena-like (but in a cat kind of way) and terrifying.  Also, they are hella hard to draw, at least for me.  So glad not to be a gazelle.
