Braid - Autumn McLeod 2014
I really like this one. I think it can mean a lot of different things depending on who’s looking at it, which is part of the reason I made the person purposefully androgynous. That’s something I’ve been doing a lot recently anyway because I want my art to be welcoming and inclusive for non-binary and non-gender conforming friends. Also because the feminist in me thinks that smashing stereotypes is the best kind of fun. I got a little crazy with the colors this time. Tell me if you like it. [You can delete this paragraph if you want when you reblog, but please keep the title and my name. Thx.]

New piece!- a waterfall naiad stands solitary in the moonlight
I’ve had a low grade fever for over a week, but I finally fought off my crappy illness-induced doldrums and finished the cheetah!
Holy new followers, Batman!
This morning I had 174 followers, and by this evening more than 400 of you have joined the party! I figure this is a good time to introduce myself and tell you a bit about myself!
It has come to my attention that cheetahs are really hyena-like (but in a cat kind of way) and terrifying. Also, they are hella hard to draw, at least for me. So glad not to be a gazelle.
Your art is a;lskdaj;sldkdfsj magical :)
YOU are asdfsdakl;fjdkls;ajl; magical! *blushes*
Yow! I’m on Tumblr Radar for the first time! Thanks, Tumblr!
Welcome, new followers! My name is Autumn, and I’m happy you’re here!
Ten of My Fav Artists: Part 2!
Hi, new followers! So happy you like my art!
Last week I did a list of artists I love, but there were so many people I didn’t get to list that I’ve decided to keep going. These artists are all super swoon-worthy. Get ready to meet some new favorites!
I’ve been having a pretty bad art week. I felt a little stuck, so I drew a satyr hanging with a mermaid. I almost always enjoy drawing a good sassy mythological being or two, even if I am having an off day (or days, as the case may be).
Ten of my Fav Artists on Tumblr: A List
~Wow! So many new followers!~
Hello! Thank you for following! I’m assuming you all found me through the wonderful littleteashi? Feel free to send me asks if you have questions or want to say hello and introduce yourself and tell me your favorite animal.
I feel really happy that you like my work, so I want take the opportunity to do a Ten of My Favorite Artists on Tumblr post. I hope you find some new favorites!
See list below cut
Hello, love your work! I was wondering what kind of inking tools you use because your inking looks awesome!
Thanks! I use regular old black india ink (whichever is cheapest when I go to the art store), a synthetic round brush with a pointy tip, and watercolor paper because I like the textures it makes. If you like a more uniform look, bristol board is great for smooth ink lines.
Also, pro tip- I sketch with a non-photo blue pencil. That way I can ink directly on top of the pencil and the sketch doesn’t scan in. Usually there’s just a stray line or two to clean up in Photoshop. This is super helpful for those of us who haven’t invested in a light box yet.
If you really want to be impressed, check out http://yukoshimizu.tumblr.com/. She’s my ink hero and does little process videos that might be helpful to you.
